ACEA builds out executive team to guide industry transition

The European Automobile Manufacturers Association (ACEA) has expanded its leadership ranks with two pivotal hires as the auto industry navigates unprecedented change.

Andreas Klugescheid has taken the new post of chief strategic foresight and engagement officer at the group that unites Europe’s 15 major automakers. He brings more than 24 years at BMW leading public affairs and communications functions regionally.

In the executive head of policy and strategy role, Maria Linkova-Nijs leverages 15-plus years driving data-led advocacy, especially via emerging technologies. She will optimise ACEA’s policy positioning and strategic coherence.

“Profound transformation from internal combustion towards full electrification has major repercussions necessitating evolution on our end too,” said ACEA Director General Sigrid de Vries, citing 2024’s significance.

The timely leadership reinforcement aims to effectively tackle pressing commercial vehicle, technology and operations challenges while forging partnerships that set the tone ahead of pivotal EU elections.
