Ancom Nylex Terminals expands chemical storage in Westport

Ancom Nylex Terminals Sdn Bhd (ANT), a subsidiary of Ancom Nylex Bhd, has significantly boosted its storage capacity at Westports Malaysia in Klang, marking a major step in supporting the country’s petrochemical supply chain.

The company has added seven new tanks with a combined capacity of 12,000 cubic metres, increasing its total capacity at the Westport facility to 78,000 cubic metres. The tanks are designed for the storage of methanol and other hazardous chemicals and are equipped with nitrogen blanketing systems to improve safety and product integrity.

Chief Executive Officer Lee Cheun Wei said the expansion is part of Ancom Nylex’s strategy to strengthen its logistics infrastructure for chemical distribution. He noted that Westports, with its strategic location and deep-water facilities, plays a crucial role in facilitating regional and international trade in chemicals.

The project also included the installation of additional truck loading bays and a vapour recovery system to meet environmental standards and enhance operational efficiency. ANT has secured long-term storage contracts with existing clients and expects increased throughput from new contracts over the coming quarters.

With demand for chemical logistics continuing to grow in the region, Ancom Nylex’s expanded infrastructure positions it to serve as a key hub in Southeast Asia. The investment reflects the company’s ongoing efforts to expand its terminal operations and provide comprehensive logistics solutions for bulk liquid chemicals.
