API releases new edition of API 1509

The American Petroleum Institute (API) announced the release of the 20th edition of API 1509, Engine Oil Licensing and Certification System. 

The new edition of API 1509 contains revisions relating the reorganization of the Annexes and now includes the performance requirements for older heavy duty service categories CH-4, CI-4 and CJ-4 (See Annex J). 

This edition also incorporates changes as related to passing ballots 5106, 5318 and 5319. 

API has also revised the API 1525 Bulk Oil Testing, Handling, And Storage Guidelines Documentation. This edition places greater emphasis on current safety standards and protocols and enhanced reliance on computerized modes of inventory control, inventory management and quality management and provides an updated approach to sampling and quality controls, among other changes.
