Arteco launches advanced coolant plant in China for global markets

Arteco nv, a global leader in water-based engine coolants and heat transfer fluids, headquartered in Belgium and with a branch in Shanghai, China, is set to open a new production facility in Nantong, Jiangsu Province, China. This state-of-the-art plant, positioned in China’s chemical manufacturing epicenter, is expected to start operations in the first half of 2024.

“Our new facility in Nantong represents our dedication to being a globally responsible and reliable solutions provider,โ€ said Alexandre Moireau, general manager of Arteco.

โ€œWe cater to a diverse customer base in the automotive, industrial, and electronics cooling sectors. Our focus is on delivering superior products globally, with a special emphasis on the dynamic market in China. This expansion will enhance our supply chain resilience, streamline operations, and reduce risks associated with extensive global supply chains.โ€

The automotive industry, known for its rigorous quality, safety, and environmental standards, is a primary focus of the new plant. Designed to meet the stringent requirements of automotive OEMs, the facility will produce engine coolants for traditional internal combustion engines and heat transfer fluids for new energy vehicles, including electric, hybrid, and hydrogen fuel cell vehicles.

“Our local production will enable us to quickly adapt to changing customer needs and foster innovation and collaboration,” Moireau said. “This plant demonstrates our commitment to the Chinese market and our dedication to meeting the unique needs of our Chinese customers.”

Paul Golesworthy, regional manager for Asia Pacific & Middle East, highlighted the plant’s role in the electronics cooling segment, noting a trend towards water-based products for data centres, offering enhanced corrosion protection and cooling capabilities.

Investing in a local plant aligns with Arteco’s strategy for a resilient and sustainable future. This move is part of Arteco’s ambitious growth plans and its mission to be a reliable partner. The new facility will reduce the need to transport corrosion inhibitor additive packages from Belgium to China, significantly impacting Arteco’s transportation footprint. This change is a step towards Arteco’s goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2050.

Zuoling Zhang, general manager of Shanghai Arteco Coolants Science and Technology Co., Ltd., expressed excitement about the project, recognising it as a testament to the dedication of the China team since 2010. This expansion will not only drive business growth but also offer team development and personal growth opportunities.
