Braskem launches Octane Plus for high-performance fuel market

Braskem, the largest polyolefins producer in the Americas and a leading global producer of biopolymers, has announced the launch of Octane Plus, a premium fuel additive designed to serve the high-performance segment of the automotive fuels market. This new addition marks a significant expansion of Braskem’s fuels business portfolio.

Octane Plus is an additive blended during gasoline production to increase the fuel’s octane rating, enhancing its ability to withstand intense temperatures. This improvement is crucial for high-performance engines that require enhanced-octane gasoline to deliver maximum power output.

“Braskem is one of the largest suppliers of chemical and petrochemical products in the world, and we are excited to launch Octane Plus to the market as the latest addition to our fuels portfolio,” said Eduardo Camelyer, commercial leader for Gasoline and Blendstocks at Braskem. “Octane Plus provides fuels with greater quality and performance, raising it to a new level of power and efficiency. This launch supports Braskem’s aim of delivering value-added products to our clients while also facilitating new gasoline formulation business opportunities.”

Research and production

The proprietary research and development process for Octane Plus was conducted at Braskem’s Petrochemical Complex in Triunfo, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. Current production is dedicated to export volumes, primarily serving the strong octane demand in the Central and North American regions. Initial export shipments from Brazil are already underway, with additional client deliveries expected to ramp up in the coming months.

Braskem’s fuels product portfolio aims to combine quality, performance, and sustainability, meeting the high standards required by the market and regulatory agencies. Octane Plus joins Braskem’s comprehensive range of fuels, including premium and regular gasoline, low sulfur oil, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), and other special gases, as well as other octane and oxygenate boosters.
