BSI confers RC14001 certification for Afton Chemical’s U.S. operations
Afton Chemical Corp., a global leader in petroleum additives based in Richmond, Va., U.S.A., has received RC14001 and ISO 14001 certifications for all U.S. operations from British Standards Institute (BSI).
Responsible Care® was created to enable leading chemical companies to achieve even higher standards of performance and generate greater value for commitment to achieve RC14001 certification.
The RC14001 certification must be provided by an accredited third party, such as BSI, an international standards organization operating under the British Royal Charter since 1929. BSI is also independently assessed and accredited globally by ANAB (ANSI-ASQ National Accreditation Board) and by more than 26 other accreditation bodies throughout the world.
“We have been fully committed to the principles of responsible care since the program was introduced,” said Afton Chemical President Rob Shama. “This certificate underscores our commitment to the responsible development, manufacture, transportation and handling of our products everywhere we operate.”
“This was no small feat,” said Todd VanderVen, president, BSI Group Americas, based in Herndon, Va., U.S.A. “Afton Chemical’s achievement of Responsible Care certification demonstrates the implementation of effective and proven management practices as evaluated by a rigorous assessment, and the ongoing evaluation of those practices by a third party. It’s a very big commitment to improvement.”
