National Government Services’ Shelbyville Data Center Earns ENERGY STAR Certification
Only 107 data centers in U.S. currently hold designation signaling
national leadership in energy performance standards
SHELBYVILLE, Ky.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–#datacenter–National Government Services, Inc.’s 30,000 square foot Shelbyville Data
Center joins an elite class of only 36 companies and 107 data centers
across the U.S. that are ENERGY STAR certified by the Environmental
Protection Agency (EPA), signaling the organization has met high energy
performance standards.
“This certification was achieved by our best-in-class associates using
their expertise, teamwork and dedication to help us meet the program’s
stringent criteria,” said National Government Services President Fran
Gary. “As a federal health contractor, we recognize how much of a role
environmental sustainability plays in the public’s health. Our federal
health partners can take pride in working with us and knowing that our
data center truly stands apart.”
ENERGY STAR certified buildings and plants are verified to perform in
the top 25 percent of buildings nationwide, based on weather-normalized
source energy use that takes into account occupancy, hours of operation
and other key metrics. ENERGY STAR is the only energy efficiency
certification in the U.S. that is based on actual, verified energy
performance.
“Our team managed to achieve this significant accomplishment without
increasing cost, enabling us to continue offering cost-effective
programs and services to our customers and even pass along impending
savings” said NGS Chief Information Officer Frank LaSota. “By applying
innovative thinking and strong teamwork we were able to earn this
rating.”
On average, ENERGY STAR certified buildings and plants use 35 percent
less energy, cause 35 percent fewer greenhouse gas emissions and are
less expensive to operate than their peers — all without sacrifices in
performance or comfort.
