NTE Energy Secures Air Permit for its Reidsville Energy Center

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–NTE Carolinas II, LLC (“NTE”), an affiliate of NTE
Energy
, was granted its Air Permit from the North Carolina
Department of Environmental Quality – Division of Air Quality on July
14, 2017 for its Reidsville Energy Center. The receipt of this Air
Permit, together with the issuance of the final Certificate of Public
Convenience and Necessity (“CPCN”) from the North Carolina Utilities
Commission in January completes the state and local permitting steps
required for NTE to finance and construct the Reidsville Energy Center.
The Reidsville Energy Center is a 500 MW natural gas-fired electric
generating facility, located in Rockingham County, N.C. The facility
will be a source of clean and efficient electric capacity and energy for
many communities and utilities in the Carolinas.

“The issuance of the Air Permit achieves a critical permitting milestone
for the facility,” said Seth Shortlidge, CEO of NTE Energy. “NTE is
pleased to bring the essential, economic and reliable power from this
facility to the wholesale markets in the Carolinas.”

NTE is currently in the final stages of completing long term power
purchase agreements with several entities in the Carolinas, offering the
opportunity to lock in the extremely competitive pricing that is being
offered. The first of these contracts will be executed in the next
couple months.

The Reidsville Energy Center is expected to begin construction in the
first quarter of 2018, and reach commercial operation in 2021. This
Rockingham County facility will be similar in size and design to NTE’s
Kings Mountain Energy Center, located in Kings Mountain (Cleveland
County), N.C., which is currently under construction and will soon begin
start-up activities. The Kings Mountain facility will be operational in
the summer of 2018.
