On behalf of the co organizers, the Union for the Promotion of Oil and Protein Plants (UFOP), the German Bioethanol Industry Association (BDBe), the Association of the German Biofuels Industry (VDB) and the German Biogas Association (FvB), we would like to cordially invite you to join us at CityCube Berlin on 22–23 January 2018.

The ambitious goals to limit global warming and reduce greenhouse gas emissions set by the Paris Climate Agreement mean huge challenges for the global economy. How can the trade and transport industries make an economically appropriate and future oriented contribution to realizing these goals?

The course for future developments has already been set by the German Federal Government’s Climate Action Plan 2050 and the German Federal Ministry of Transport’s Mobility and Fuels Strategy. The decision on the revision of the Renewable Energy Directive will also be a landmark decision and set the course for the future of the mobility and agricultural industries, as well as the bioenergy sector.

Reliable policymaking at national and European level is thereby indispensable when it comes to ensuring that investors can contribute to more climate protection in transport under stable framework and competitive conditions.

Climate protection in transport has evolved into a key issue; however, the necessary, sustainable reduction of emissions can only occur by being open to new technologies.

What role will the combustion engine play in mobility in the future? The increasing diversification of drive technologies and the development and market introduction of alternative fuels offer major challenges for the industry, but also economic opportunities. The programme of the conference in 2018 focuses on these topics, as well as the development and market opportunities of new drive technologies.
