Chevron expands marine lubricants supply to Port Elizabeth
Chevron Marine Lubricants, a subsidiary of Chevron Corporation, has announced an expansion of its global supply network to include Port Elizabeth, South Africa. This strategic move enhances Chevron’s ability to serve vessels opting for routes around the Cape of Good Hope, allowing them to avoid conflict areas in other parts of the world. The addition of Port Elizabeth to Chevron’s distribution network in southern Africa underscores the company’s commitment to reliable service and accessibility for the marine industry.
This expansion has been achieved through close collaboration with local partners, which has strengthened supply chain resilience for Chevron’s products. This marks a significant milestone in the development of Chevron’s distribution network in southern waters, said Global Marine Lubricants General Manager Ayten Yavuz. Port Elizabeth is a major port of call, and having Chevron lubricants available will increase service reliability for visiting vessels.
The Port Elizabeth location will stock Chevron’s range of marine engine lubricants, including the widely used Taro Ultra range. As a multi-cargo facility situated in Algoa Bay, Port Elizabeth operates 363 days a year, handling bulk, container, and liquid cargo operations. This addition to Chevron’s network is particularly significant given the port’s increasing traffic, especially from vehicle carriers rerouting via the Cape.
With this strategic expansion, Chevron Marine Lubricants strengthens its ability to provide reliable supply options to vessels in South Africa’s key ports, reinforcing the company’s reputation for reliable, high-quality marine lubrication solutions in critical regions.
