Chevron Oronite introduces new top-tier additive package OLOA® 54720

Chevron Oronite recently introduced OLOA® 54720, its new top-tier additive package that combines multiple ACEA, API, ILSAC and OEM SAE 0W-20 claims as well as low-speed pre-ignition (LSPI) protection into one product.

OLOA 54720 helps address the need for an additive package that meets the new ACEA C5 category. “The ACEA C5 market is set for growth because the newest engines from European OEMs are designed to use this new, fuel-saving oil,” said Teri Crosby, global product manager, Automotive Engine Oils, Chevron Oronite. “Legislation that centers on CO2 and emissions is driving OEMs to actively use these oils as service fill. Each year, 3-5% of the total car fleet in Europe is replaced by SAE 0W-20 capable cars – and OLOA 54720 provides a solution to help meet those customers’ needs now and in the future.”

Oronite stated that OLOA 54720 also offers logistics advantages in that it combines several key SAE 0W-20 OEM approvals, which can reduce complexity. In addition, the product is compatible with after-treatment operation over its lifespan, including use in engines equipped with Gasoline Particulate Filters.

“OLOA 54720 addresses the latest, most-demanding OEM requirements by delivering fuel economy benefits; protecting against LSPI; and providing cleanliness and turbocharger protection,” said Richard van den Bulk, global OEM and industry liaison, Automotive Engine Oil, Chevron Oronite. This product is another example of PCFlex ADDvantage™, Oronite’s commitment to deliver performance and flexibility to its passenger car motor oil (PCMO) customers, he added.
