Chevron Oronite secures Volvo VDS-5 approval for OLOA® 61530

Chevron Oronite has announced that its OLOA® 61530 heavy-duty engine oil additive package has received Volvo VDS-5 specification approval, further solidifying its position as a high-performance solution for the heavy-duty automotive sector. This approval reflects OLOA® 61530’s capability to meet the stringent requirements of Volvo’s advanced engines, offering improved fuel economy and extended oil drain intervals.

The OLOA® 61530 additive underwent rigorous testing, including the Volvo T-13 engine test and extensive two-year field trials across over 10 trucks in challenging real-world conditions. This additive is formulated to prevent oil degradation through oxidation, ensuring durability and efficiency for end-users. When paired with Chevron Oronite’s PARATONE® 24EX viscosity modifier, it also secures multiple OEM approvals, making it a versatile choice for lubricant manufacturers.

Emmanuelle Faure, global product line manager, Automotive, Viscosity  Modifiers, Motorcycle, at Chevron Oronite, emphasised the importance of this milestone.

“We are very pleased to add this critical claim to one of our high-performance products, enabling our customers to benefit from a durable, efficient, and reliable solution that helps protect end user hardware. The  5W-30 formulation that has obtained the Volvo approval also comes with multiple other OEM approvals when  blended with PARATONE® 24EX viscosity modifier. This solution is an attractive combination that also  provides logistic benefits,” said Faure.

This development underscores Chevron Oronite’s commitment to delivering innovative solutions that address the evolving needs of the automotive industry.
