Daimler Trucks North America chooses Chevron Delo 400 ZFA SAE 10W-30 for factory fill

Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA) will start using Chevron Delo 400 ZFA SAE 10W-30 (API FA-4) as their factory fill engine oil starting next year, Chevron Products Company, a Chevron U.S.A. Inc. division, and maker of the Delo®brand of lubricants and coolants announced.

Beginning 1 January 2019, Delo 400 ZFA SAE 10W-30 will be used as the factory fill oil for all Detroit™ DD13®, DD15® and DD16® engines.

“Chevron puts great value on OEM relationships, as they are critical for developing engine oil products which help OEMs lower total cost of ownership for fleet managers,” said James Booth, North America commercial sector manager at Chevron. “We are especially excited about the effect this will have on our factory fill business. As of January 2019, Chevron Delo will supply two-thirds of the North American heavy-duty factory fill engine oil market.”

Daimler Trucks North America led the industry with the approval of API FA-4 oils for its heavy-duty line of engines back to EPA 10, citing longer oil drain intervals and enhanced fuel economy benefits.

DTNA, based in Portland, Ore., U.S.A., is North America’s largest heavy-duty truck manufacturer and is part of Germany’s Daimler Group. The DTNA brand includes Freightliner Trucks, Western Star, Detroit Diesel Corporation, Thomas Built Buses, Freightliner Custom Chassis, and SelecTrucks.
