Dorf Ketal Chemicals India Pvt Ltd., based in Mumbai, India, has entered into a joint venture (JV) agreement with TriBonds Chemical Co., based in Dammam, Saudi Arabia.

The joint venture, Dorf Ketal-TriBonds, will cater to the ever-growing demand for specialty chemicals in the hydrocarbon and water industries. It will leverage the strengths of the two parties in critical applications such as drag reducing agents for pipeline applications, clean fuels, coke retarders for the petrochemical industry, green retarders for styrene production.

“This new JV is critical for the development and growth of Dorf Ketal in the region and allows us to participate, with a valued partner, in the exciting vision of a rapidly growing dynamic country. It brings a new vehicle, that with the help and strengths of Tribonds Chemical will allow us to contribute to the growth and development of the Saudi Arabia hydrocarbon industry, while bringing innovative approaches to solving the critical industry issues of flow assurance, plant integrity and water conservation,” said Sudhir Menon, chairman and managing director of Dorf Ketal.

“The new entity would add and assure sustainability through the local manufacturing footprint at Dammam 2ndindustrial City,” said Abdulaziz Abdulhadi Al-Qahtani, said chairman, TriBonds Chemical Co. Further, he added that the joint venture will bring “proven patented innovation and technologies” in the area of process and water applications.

Dorf Ketal Chemicals India is a USD300 million company focused on manufacturing specialty chemicals for the hydrocarbon sector, from crude oil production to petrochemical production. Dorf Ketal is one of the world’s largest suppliers of process chemicals and additives for oil refineries and petrochemical plants.

In March, Dorf Ketal also announced a partnership with state-owned Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. (IOCL)to manufacture IOCL’s patented drag reducing agent (DRA) technology at Dorf Ketal’s manufacturing plant in Dahej, Gujarat, India.
