Ergon Refining to boost fuel production in Mississippi
Ergon Refining Inc. (ERI) has unveiled plans to expand its processing capabilities at its Vicksburg, Mississippi, U.S.A., refinery to include gasoline production. The upgraded facility is expected to come online in the first quarter of 2027 and will produce approximately 6,000 barrels of gasoline per day.
The expansion will support the wholesale fuels market across western Mississippi and eastern Louisiana, marking a significant strategic development for the company.
“This significant investment is another step toward living out our commitment to consistently expand our portfolio of solutions to meet needs within the markets we serve,” said Lance Puckett, president of ERI.
The initiative follows ERI’s 2023 purchase of a fuels terminal in Vicksburg, situated next to the refinery. This site already markets a full range of gasoline and diesel fuel products, and the upcoming project will include direct pipeline connections to the terminal, greatly enhancing supply chain and marketing efficiencies.
“The purchase of the fuels terminal in 2023 set the stage for further entry into the wholesale fuels market,” said Kirk Latson, senior vice president of Fuels Marketing for Ergon. “Now, with this expansion, we’re excited to be a local company not just marketing but also producing fuel to keep our communities moving forward.”
The project will also increase the refinery’s crude distillation capacity by 20%, bolstering Ergon’s overall output.
Ergon, founded in 1954, operates across three business segments: Energy & Specialty Solutions, Pavement & Coating Resources, and Integrated Services & Logistics. ERI is the world’s largest producer of specialty naphthenic oils and a key player in high-value solutions for global manufacturing and infrastructure.
