There is currently a shortage of manufacturing and supply of mainstream lube Base Oils this has consequently resulted in high prices that hasn’t been witnessed in recent years. Such shortages have resulted in pressure along the value chain, through to the end user in the form of reduced choice and higher prices.

 

The keynote presentation by Norman Sheppard will discuss the short and long term challenges, and related opportunities in the Lube Base Oil business, with the presentation being split into three parts.

 

Firstly, a ‘landscape’ review of the main Base Oil Groups I, II and III along with their many viscosity grades and typical applications. This will be followed by a summarisation of the driving forces that are shaping the Base Oil business now and in the foreseeable future. Finally, an assessment of the sourcing, engineering and operational options that are viable to meet the new challenges. This will all be couched in terms of the Technical and Commercial implications.
