Seminar: Maximizing Metalworking Fluid Performance and Service Life

Start Date:March 9, 2021 @ 2:00 am

Timezoone:HKT

This two-hour virtual seminar discusses problems and causes encountered in the use of water-dilutable metalworking fluids (MWFs), and provides detailed strategies for preventing or managing them in order to maximize performance, service life and worker safety and health.

Who Should Attend

This seminar is designed for anyone responsible for the performance or management of water-dilutable MWFs, as well as those who manage machining operations. It is intended for those who want to have a better understanding of the impact these fluids can have on productivity, parts quality, cost-per-part and worker health. This seminar is especially useful for those with a basic knowledge of MWFs, having at least one (1) year of experience formulating, testing or managing MWF systems.

Why You Should Attend

MWFs are an increasingly important component in the manufacturing of modern, high-quality metal parts. However, very few manufacturers understand the impact these fluids can have on parts quality, productivity, cost-per-part and worker safety and health. Fluid producers and users who understand how to properly manage MWFs for performance and longevity can have a sustainable advantage in the marketplace.

Course Instructor

Patrick E. Brutto, M.Sc., CMFS, Faith-Full MWF Consulting

Patrick Brutto is a Metalworking Fluid Specialist (CMFS) certified by The Society of Tribologists and Lubrication Engineers (STLE), with 30 years of global experience in metalworking fluids (MWFs).

He has proven success in MWF additive development and application (amino alcohols, corrosion inhibitors, biocides, specialty emulsifiers) and has direct experience formulating and testing water-dilutable MWFs, including cast iron chip corrosion, foaming, aluminum staining, metal leaching, lubricity (tapping torque), particle size analysis, formaldehyde monitoring and dispersion stability.

Patrick was the recipient of the Vic Joll Award, an STLE National Award, in 2018. He served on the board of STLE from 2014 to 2020. He is based in Chicago, Illinois, U.S.A.
