ExxonMobil announces launch date for Mobil Delvac-branded API CK-4 and FA-4 engine oils

ExxonMobil Corp. said it will introduce its new product line and details of its Mobil Delvac-branded API CK-4 and FA-4 heavy-duty engine oils on September 20. API CK-4 heavy-duty engine oil, which will only be available for licensing by the American Petroleum Institute (API) starting December 1, 2016, is backward compatible and is meant to replace API CJ-4. API FA-4 is a completely new heavy-duty engine oil specification meant for 2017 model year commercial vehicles.

“ExxonMobil has played a key role in the development and advancement of specifications and testing parameters of the upcoming PC-11 lubricant specification,” said Simon Watson, global product offer advisor – commercial vehicle lubricants, ExxonMobil.

“Since 2011, ExxonMobil has applied its robust research and testing capabilities toward the API’s PC-11 lubricant specification,” the company said. “To date, ExxonMobil has accrued more than 30 million miles of testing for its range of CK-4 and FA-4 major commercial vehicle manufacturers, engine  builders and fleets.”

Proposed category 11 or PC-11 was the working title for the new heavy-duty engine oil category.
