Growth Energy joins global biofuel experts at World Ethanol and Biofuels Event
BRUSSELS – At the World Ethanol and Biofuels Event in Brussels, Growth Energy Senior Vice President of Global Markets Craig Willis took the stage to share his insight into the global markets landscape and provide an update on steps the United States has been taking to embrace and promote higher ethanol blends.
Willis’ panel, the “International Desk: Global ethanol production, new growth prospects, policy and trade dynamics”, included company representatives from Brazil, Germany, and Sweden who provided updates on U.S. ethanol policy; the ongoing trade wars and global dynamics; the upward trend in biofuel demand; Brazil’s RenovaBio; the repeal of European anti-dumping duties; and China’s move to E10 by 2020.
“As the world’s largest producer of ethanol, it is critical that U.S. ethanol producers and supporters are represented at the World Ethanol and Biofuels Event, as many nations are considering incorporating higher ethanol blends into their fuel supply,” said Willis. “In the first ten years of blending our fuel with ten percent ethanol, the U.S. cut carbon related emissions by 589.33 million metric tons or the equivalent of taking more than 124 million cars off the road. The success we’ve seen in the U.S. shows other countries that biofuels are not only an affordable source of octane and an economic booster, but ethanol is also better for the air we breathe and can help these nations achieve their low carbon, climate goals.”
The World Ethanol and Biofuels Event brings together leaders from the ethanol and biofuels supply chain – international producers, oil majors, traders, banks and investors, biotechnology companies, technology providers, media and more – to encourage discussion, networking, and analysis for the growth of biofuels around the world.
