HPCL to boosts India’s electric mobility ecosystem

India’s state-owned oil and gas enterprise Hindustan Petroleum Corp. Ltd. (HPCL) has launched a revolutionary, first of its kind electric vehicle (EV) charger, in collaboration with Magenta EV Systems under its start-up development program.

The EV charger branded as “ChargeGrid Flare” is a charger incorporated within energy-efficient street lamp columns, that shall encourage EV adoption for flexible and low-cost charging solutions. HPCL called these chargers state-of-the art and can cater to all range of new generation electric vehicles.

In a virtual event held recently at its flagship company owned retail outlets at Mumbai, Delhi and Mumbai-Pune Expressway, senior HPCL officials, together with senior officials from Magenta Group launched this new range of EV chargers, taking HPCL’s total EV charging facilities in India to 50.

HPCL plans to install “ChargeGrid Flare” range of chargers at selected retail outlets across India.

HPCL is continuously upgrading its infrastructure to address the battery charging needs of India’s huge two- and three-wheeler population in the personal mobility segment, to boost consumer confidence in the country’s e-mobility initiatives and to accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles in India.

HPCL has the second largest fuel retail network in the country, and thus can play a major role in boosting EV charging networks in India.
