Malaysia Aviation Group signs SAF offtake agreement with PDB

Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG) has signed a sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) offtake agreement with Petronas Dagangan Berhad (PDB), as part of collaborative efforts to make the first SAF production available in Malaysia at a commercial scale.

Petronas Dagangan Berhad is the retail marketing arm of Malaysia’s state-owned oil and gas company PETRONAS.

Through this partnership, MAG has indicated its readiness to purchase the SAF from PDB as part of its commitment to achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2050, with the first delivery scheduled to begin from 2027 at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA). The SAF will be utilised on flights operated by national carrier Malaysia Airlines, and subsequently to sister airlines Firefly and MASwings.

To commemorate the significant occasion, Malaysia’s Minister of Transport YB Anthony Loke Siew Fook’s inbound flight MH7360 to Langkawi was powered by SAF during the 2023 Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition (LIMA) held in late May.
