MÜNZING Malaysia SDN BHD announced on March 22, 2023 that after a three-year project and construction period, its production facility for wax and polymer emulsions in Bukit Selambau Industrial Park, Kedah, Malaysia, has been inaugurated.

MÜNZING is a privately owned specialty additive company with headquarters in Abstatt, Germany. It has manufacturing plants in Germany, U.S.A., Australia, and Asia serving a global customer base in more than 40 countries.

A portfolio of up to 100 products will be manufactured at this site in the future. In October 2022, the first production batch was produced in the new plant. Currently, approximately 20 customers are being sampled with additional batches. The goal is to ramp up production to 100% by the third quarter of 2023.

The completed plant is equipped with state-of-the-art technology and is capable of producing water-based wax emulsions and other specialty additives, such as liquid defoamers, in an area of more than 18,000 square metres. 

These products are mainly used in the construction industry and for architectural paints.

In addition to a complete networking of production, logistics and infrastructure via process control systems, great importance was attached to the most energy-saving design possible during the planning of the plant. This includes an in-house combined heat and power plant, which generates environmentally friendly electricity and heat, and a sophisticated system for recovering energy in all heating and cooling processes. 70% of the energy used flows back into the production plant through the recovery process.
