Rtec-Instruments showcasing latest product line at Society of Tribologists and Lubrication Engineers Conference and Exhibition (STLE) 2018

Rtec-Instruments will display their latest line of industry leading tribometers and multifunction materials testers at the 73rd Annual Meeting and Exhibition of the Society of Tribologists and Lubrication Engineers from May 21 – May 23, 2018 at Booth 309 in Minneapolis, MN. “It gives us immense pleasure to showcase our latest developments on the popular MFT platform, which opens up new possibilities in tribology,” comments Tushar Khosla, Application Scientist at Rtec-Instruments.

Rtec-Instruments will feature two MFT 5000 series testers, with one running in tapping torque and 4 Ball configuration, and the other showcasing block on ring configuration. In addition, on display there will be several other modules including the Rotary drive, Reciprocating drive, and high temperature chambers. “All these options are available on the same platform and the new easy exchange system makes it easier than ever to switch from one configuration to another,” adds Dr. Khosla.

Several ASTM/ISO/DIN standard tests for evaluation and characterization of materials, lubricants, greases, solid lubricants, and coatings can be performed on the same tester. The tools also provide options to configure customized tests for screening and characterization of products for specific applications. The experienced team of engineers and scientists at Rtec-Instruments is always looking for new collaborations and partnerships to provide tailored solutions for specific tribological and materials testing challenges.

Rtec-Instruments will also exhibit their new High Frequency Reciprocating Test Rig. Built grounds up to support the next generation of materials and lubricant research, this test rig incorporates a bearing less design and is driven by an electromagnetic voice coil. This innovative tester will offer more possibilities to Tribologists and material scientists to study fretting and simulate high frequency test conditions by offering a wide range of frequencies and test strokes.

Lambda Series Dual mode Profilometer and 3D Scratch Testers will be the other tools on display. The dual head profilometer combines white light interferometer and spinning disc confocal capabilities in the same head. The 3D Scratch Tester combines a scratch tester and an optical profilometer on the same platform, making it a unique tool to provide 3D images and information such as surface roughness, texture, defects etc. before and after the test. Integrating several techniques together to provide more information from the same tests has become a common theme at the company that introduced the world’s first and most successful integrated platform MFT 5000, combining mechanical, optical and chemical properties on the same platform.
