Viva Energy & P97 launch Shell Card GO mobile app in Australia

Shell Card GO is a mobile app that provides authorised Shell Cardholders with convenient contactless payment at the pump using a mobile phone. On April 27, mobile commerce platform provider, P97 Networks, announced that it had partnered with energy company Viva Energy to launch the custom business-to-business mobile app, which is designed for fleet managers and drivers.

“We believe the Shell Card Go app will not only make fuel payments more convenient for fleet managers and drivers, but also create seamless and secure experiences,” said Brad Jones from P97 Networks in a statement.  The Shell Card GO can be used at Viva Energy’s extensive network of Shell, Liberty Convenience, and Coles Express across Australia and is accepted at approximately 1,330 service stations. Viva Energy is the exclusive supplier of Shell fuels and lubricants in Australia and supplies around a quarter of Australia’s total fuel requirements.

P97 Networks has integrated its technology point of sale systems across Viva Energy’s retail network. Viva Energy says it selected P97 Networks as its partner on the Shell Card Go project due to their “ability to process mobile payments, integrate their technology into complex POS systems, and influence driver behaviour.”

Shell Card Go is designed to get drivers back on the road faster. It also allows users to locate stations, view site details, earn rewards and easily access transaction histories. “As a leading Australian energy company, Viva Energy aims to provide fleet managers and drivers easy access to fuel stations and contactless payments,” says Ash Harris, head of shell card at Viva Energy. Viva Energy can also offer discounts and offers to customers and omnichannel messaging through the app.
