Freudenberg to spend EUR 40 million in pan-European logistics center for lubricant units

Freudenberg Chemical Specialities, a Freudenberg Business Group headquartered in Munich, is expanding its nearby site at Maisach in Southern Germany. The company said it is investing EUR 40 million (USD 45 million) to construct a pan-European logistics center for Klรผber Lubrication, a new technical center with laboratories for Chem-Trend and additional offices for Chem-Trend and OKS. The three companies are subsidiaries of Freudenberg Chemical Specialities. Covering an area of around 19,000 square meters, this major project underscores the growth of Freudenberg Chemical Specialities in Europe.

โ€œKlรผber Lubrication, Chem-Trend and OKS all stand for innovation, customer orientation and growing global success. With our investment, we are creating an important framework for their future success,โ€ said Mohsen Sohi, CEO of the Freudenberg Group.

Construction of the new logistics center, which will house some 120 employees, and the Chem-Trend technical center is due to be completed in the second half of 2017.

The new logistics center will centralize the European logistics operation of the Munich-based specialty lubricant manufacturer Klรผber Lubrication.

“Today’s groundbreaking ceremony marks an important step for our company,” said Hanno D. Wentzler, CEO of Freudenberg Chemical Specialities. “It will strengthen the operational infrastructure in the Munich area and in individual European companies. By combining essential logistics functions throughout Europe and creating additional capacity, we will increase our competitiveness for years to come, shorten delivery times for customers and pave the way for further growth.”

Also to be built in Maisach, a new technical center with laboratories will provide Chem-Trend with optimal conditions for the development and advancement of its innovative specialised release agents. The scope of the project also involves a new canteen, parking and office space for Chem-Trend, which can potentially also be used by lubricant manufacturer OKS. Both companies are based in Maisach.
