FUCHS sells equity holding in Switzerland’s MOTOREX AG Langenthal

Germany’s FUCHS Group, which operates globally in the lubricants industry, has sold its 50% share in MOTOREX AG Langenthal which was founded in 1973,

FUCHS said it will participate in the Swiss market directly and with trading partners under the FUCHS brand in the future. FUCHS is the world’s largest independent lubricant manufacturer.

FUCHS sold its equity stake in MOTOREX AG Langenthal for CHF 17 million (USD 17.08 million) to its former local partner, MOTOREX-BUCHER Group AG in Langenthal. The MOTOREX-BUCHER Group of companies consists of the following:

  • BUCHER AG LANGENTHAL, the parent company responsible for development, production and sales of lubricants, care and cleaning products under the MOTOREX brand
  • MOTOREX AG LANGENTHAL, specialising in industrial lubricants
  • MOTOREX-TOPTECH AG dedicated to the sale and installation of workshop equipment

Over the past four decades, FUCHS PETROLUB and MOTOREX-BUCHER have grown strongly both nationally and internationally. In 2016, half of the lubricant output of MOTOREX was sold outside Switzerland. The company is present in 85 countries, with its own sales organisations in Switzerland, France, Germany, Austria and Sweden.

Both companies are grateful for the former partnership but intend to go separate ways in the future, FUCHS said in a statement.

The FUCHS Group develops, produces, and markets high-grade lubricants and related specialties for virtually all industries and areas of application. Formed in Mannheim, Germany, in 1931, the Group employs more than 5,000 people worldwide at 58 operating companies.
