Geely expands in Southeast Asia with new agreements
Geely Holding Group, a prominent Chinese automotive group, has intensified its commitment to Southeast Asia. The company recently inked a Master Collaboration Agreement with DRB-HICOM Berhad, a significant step towards the development of Malaysia’s Automotive Hi-Tech Valley (AHTV). Additionally, Geespace, a Geely affiliate, signed an agreement with Altel Communications, marking a pivotal moment in the integration of high-tech systems in Malaysia.
The collaboration between Geely and DRB-HICOM is set to elevate AHTV’s status as an international hub for new energy vehicle (NEV) development. The partnership aims to attract both local and international investments and talents, emphasising the creation of high-tech components and parts for NEVs. This initiative aligns with Geely’s broader strategy to lead the electric and intelligent transformation of the automotive industry in the Southeast Asian market.
The agreement with Altel allows Geespace to enhance Altel’s existing spectrum through the integration of advanced technology systems. This partnership underscores Geely’s comprehensive approach to innovation, combining efforts across different sectors to achieve a sustainable and technologically advanced automotive ecosystem.
Daniel Li, CEO of Geely Holding, expressed optimism about the collaboration with DRB-HICOM and PROTON. He highlighted Geely’s global leadership in innovation and its commitment to investing in technology, talent development, business innovation, and enhancing product competitiveness and brand influence.
