Gulf Oil lubricants now available in Australia

Gulf Oil marked its Australian launch at the annual Motorclassica event held in Melbourne’s historic Royal Exhibition Building recently.

“Gulf Oil is unique in that it is one of a select few brands of oil still formulated and manufactured in Europe to meet the demands of the highest levels of motorsport,” said Phil Amos, Gulf Oil Australia director. “It has also achieved an iconic status from its string of famous ‘blue and orange’ race victories dating back 50 years to 1967. That sort of reputation is hard earned and separates Gulf from other brands currently sold in Australia.”

Amos said he was delighted that Gulf Oil Australia was able to now provide a range of high-performance motor oils and lubricants for Australian car enthusiasts, together with some highly sought after classic Gulf merchandise items including limited edition Steve McQueen “Le Mans” style jackets, driver’s bags, polo shirts, caps and key fobs.

“We have been very pleased with the response from Australian car enthusiasts at Motorclassica and also the Porsche community who are a partner of Gulf Oil internationally and identify strongly with the brand.

“Porsche and other famous car brands that have, and continue to race in Endurance and classic car events, have achieved great successes using Gulf’s specialised lubricants and we naturally wanted to extend that opportunity to classic and performance car owners in Australia.”

Gulf Oil Australia CEO, Mike Ridley-Smith, said Motorclassica was chosen as the launch venue for Gulf Oil into Australia because of the popularity of the Melbourne event and the number of motoring enthusiasts it attracts every year. The Gulf Oil stand included a rare and valuable 1977 Kremer Porsche 911 which drew crowds to the Gulf Oil stand.
