Honda to partner with Castrol in MotoGP?
Honda’s MotoGP factory team is reportedly set to begin a new chapter by partnering with Castrol for the 2025 season, following the conclusion of a 30-year relationship with Repsol. The decision by Repsol to not renew its sponsorship, formally communicated during the 2024 San Marino Grand Prix, brings an end to one of MotoGP’s most iconic collaborations.
The split comes amidst Honda’s efforts to enhance its competitive edge in MotoGP. As announced in their 2025 motorsport programme, Honda is implementing a strengthened development system to address challenges in the MotoGP class. With riders such as Nakagami and Espargaró joining the development team, Honda aims to boost the performance of its RC213V.
Honda’s transition to Castrol aligns with its focus on innovation and achieving carbon neutrality in motorcycle products by the 2040s. This shift highlights a broader commitment to sustainability while maintaining its competitive spirit across global motorsports.
