Kuwait Petroleum Italy SpA to build 110 eco-friendly sites

In an interview with Q8 magazine, Alam Al-Muasasa (Corporation World), Esam Al-Marzouq, chief operating officer and managing director of Kuwait Petroleum International (also known as Q8), expounded on the plans of Kuwait Petroleum Italy SpA to embark on a project that will establish 110 eco-friendly industrial sites with lower carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions. Al-Marzouq said the company is very eager to develop these industrial sites which would run on solar energy, so that Q8 can achieve environmental sustainability. The use of solar energy in the industrial sites would lessen electrical consumption by 13%, and would comply with the Kyoto Protocol and the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). Carbon dioxide emissions in the sites would also decrease by 7,600 tons yearly. Kuwait Petroleum International is the subsidiary of Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC). The company refines and markets fuel, lubricants and petroleum derivatives in Europe and supplies around 4,000 retail service stations. It also has a significant aviation business and markets jet fuel at more than 40 airports worldwide. The company has five lubricants blending plants, and directly sells and markets lubricants in Europe and exports to more than 75 countries worldwide. (July 24, 2012)
