Vietnam acts against petrol smuggling

Vietnamese provinces have been requested by the country’s Ministry of Industry and Trade (MIT) to tightly control retail petroleum stores in order to prevent trans-border petrol trafficking. Petrol stations should be at least 500 meters away from border gates, while those in areas considered “smuggling hot spots” should be at least 1,000 meters away from the gates, government officials said. The stations must also coordinate with border gates’ timetables. MIT also advised stations to stop selling A83 gasoline, which is no longer commonly used, to prevent it being mixed with A92 and A95.
