The Canadian plasma gasification firm Alter NRG Corp. announced the commissioning of a biomass- fired power plant in Wuhan in China’s eastern Hubei province. The facility, developed by Chinese green energy firm Wuhan Kaidi Holding Investment Co. Ltd., has the capacity to process about 100 tons of biomass daily and convert it into syngas. The syngas is subsequently converted into diesel fuel and other transportation fuels through Wuhan Kaidi’s conversion solutions. The plant uses the gasifier design technology and plasma torch systems of Alter NRG and its unit, Westinghouse Plasma. (January 30, 2013)
