Australia's biodiesel capacity now 100 million liters

The Biodiesel Association of Australia says the past six years has been a period of large growth and in June 2006 the countrys biodiesel production capacity reached more than 100 million liters per year. The Australian government has helped the local biofuels industry with a competitive advantage through excise-free status, with the final excise rate for alternative fuels in 2015 to be 50% lower than other transport fuels of similar energy content.
