BioEnergy gives green light to cogeneration plant

North Queensland BioEnergy Group has cemented an agreement with local cane growers, enabling it to give the green light to build a cogeneration plant in the Australian town of Herbert. Local growers have pledged to supply 1.8 million tons of cane for use as feedstock to the plant, which will be constructed by 2012, out of a total requirement of 2.3 million tons. The company has yet to finalize the plant design as well as secure rail access from Australian sugar mill majorCSR Ltd. and financial and government backing. (June 13, 2009)
