BMW displaces Mercedes-Benz as premier luxury brand in India

BMW AG displaced Daimler AG subsidiary Mercedes-Benz from the top slot of the Indian luxury car market in the first two months of 2009. Media reports said this might have been due to Mercedesโ€™ slowness in launching its latest global cars in the country. Mercedes-Benz sold only 315 cars in the January to February period, while BMW sold 514. The two companies were trailed by Audi AG, which sold 222 cars. (March 8, 2009)
