Bosch to supply brake solutions for “Nano” car
Bosch Automotive Electronics India Pvt. Ltd., a 100% subsidiary of the Bosch group, will supply brake solutions for what Tata Motors Ltd. touts as the world’s cheapest car. The firm will open a small unit in Gujarat to supply brake solutions to Tata Motors, which is setting up a plant in Sanand, about 45 kilometers from Ahmedabad, to manufacture the Rs100,000 (US$2,093) “Nano”, Sanjay Chakravarty, head for corporate communications of Bosch Group India, said. The plant is expected to be ready by the end of 2009. Meanwhile, the Bosch group recently inaugurated a manufacturing plant at Naganathapura, near Bangalore, which is designed to manufacture electronic control units (ECUs) for diesel and gasoline fuel injection systems. The facility was built with an investment of Rs600 million (US$12.56 million). The first batch of ECUs made at the plant will be used for the Nano. (June 10, 2009)
