Chevron Oronite announces commercial availability of OLOA® 54050

Chevron Oronite, a leading developer, manufacturer and marketer of fuel and lubricant additives, headquartered in San Ramon, Calif., U.S.A., recently announced the commercial availability of OLOA® 54050. OLOA 54050 is a high-performance additive package developed to help engine oil manufacturers align their semi-synthetic passenger car motor oil formulations with the ACEA A3/B4-10 specifications that were mandatory as of December 22, 2012, as well as with the existing API SN requirements.
“The latter A3/B4-10 standard is focused on increasing TBN (Total Base Number), enhancing wear protection, and updating the test for sludge handling, in order to accommodate the demands placed on passenger car gasoline and light duty diesel engine oils,” said Emmanuelle Faure, sales service manager, Europe-Africa-Middle East Region, Chevron Oronite.
“That is why Chevron Oronite is proud to introduce OLOA 54050, which is a cost-effective additive package that prevents oil degradation caused by biofuel and offers excellent low temperature performance.”
Discussing the new requirements in detail, Chevron Oronite also explained that its product: (1) covers several key OEM claims; (2) is formulated with Chevron Group II premium base oils, which provides improved oxidation and thermal stability; (3) includes a new generation of PARATONE® Viscosity Index Improver; (4) is characterized by a high TBN level, which provides protection from oxidation and neutralization of the corrosive effects caused by higher sulfur fuels; (5) contains strong detergency and dispersion power to help minimize sludge formation and prevent deposits; and (6) offers improved engine cleanliness and stronger wear protection, which aids in prolonged engine life.
The OLOA 54050 high-performance additive package is the latest addition to the OLOA 54000 Series, which offers a range of products for main tier conventional passenger car motor oils.
