Cosmo Oil, Nippon Paper to collaborate

Japan’s Cosmo Oil Co. Ltd. and Nippon Paper Chemicals Co. Ltd. have joined together to study the potential of developing cellulose-based ethanol production technology. The two companies will team up with the University of Tokyo and the University of Kyushu to work on the proposed project. The Japanese government will subsidize the project with ¥40 million (US$446,024.82) for a period of two years. (July 16, 2009)
