Hyundai unveils ‘new thinking’ on products at Seoul Motor Show

Hyundai Motor Company of South Korea unveiled three of its new vehicles at the 2011 Seoul Motor Show in addition to a new brand direction entitled, “New thinking, new possibilities.” Steve S. Yang, president and CEO of Hyundai Motor, says Hyundai will focus on, “Improving quality, creating new values through new thinking, and developing advanced eco-friendly technologies to contribute to a greener society.” To that end, the company introduced the Blue2 concept vehicle, a fuel cell electric vehicle. The Blue2 is a mid-size car with a sporty sedan featuring low-resistance tires, an automatic door opening system, an infotainment system and an air ionizer. Hyundai also unveiled its first gasoline hybrid model, the Sonata Hybrid, which made its world debut at the 2010 New York International Auto Show, to its home market. The Sonata Hybrid is the world’s first full parallel hybrid system, using lithium-ion polymer batteries to a hard type hybrid model. The third vehicle introduced at the show was the i40, a mid-size wagon developed exclusively for the European market which was previously introduced in Geneva in March. (March 31, 2011)
