IHI, Mitsubishi, Kawasaki to provide carbon fiber technologies to Airbus

IHI Corp., Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Kawasaki Heavy Industries will be supplying their carbon fiber technology to Airbus for the development of aircraft engines.ย  The three Japanese firms are reportedly in discussions with Pratt & Whitney and MTU Aero Engines to assist in the development of engines for the A320neo, which is an update of the Airbusโ€™s A320 jet.ย  The new A320neo will have engines that are 15% more fuel efficient than previous jets.ย  Airbus is the worldโ€™s largest aircraft company.ย  The three Japanese firms will be supplying new light material that contains plastic and carbon fiber for use in rotary wings and surrounding areas.
