Indonesia's August import figures lower by 23%

Indonesia’s state oil and gas firm PT Pertamina will be importing 9.7 million barrels of oil products in August, 23.7% less than July’s 12.72 million barrels, despite the start of the fasting month of Ramadan when demand usually rises. August gasoline imports will drop to 5.9 million barrels, from 6.9 million barrels, a 14.5% decline. Initially, Pertamina had estimated this figure to be 6.1 million barrels, or 3% higher. At the same time, imports of diesel fuel will drop by 31.5%, to 3.7 million barrels from 5.4 million barrels. Jet fuel imports will drop the most, by 76.2% to 100,000 barrels. (August 4, 2010)
