Japanese automakers forced to reschedule product launches

In the wake of the March 11 earthquake and tsunami, Japanese automakers are rethinking product launches and marketing campaigns as they struggle to get their automotive plants up and running. Honda Motor Co. recently delayed the launch of the Fit Shuttle, its new hybrid wagon which was set to be introduced on March 17. Toyota Motor Corp. postponed the release of the Prius hybrid A wagon and minivan following the Magnitude 9 earthquake. New launch schedules for the companies are still to be set. Toyota, Honda and Nissan Motor Co. are reportedly revising their sales campaigns, including TV, print and dealership promotions in connection with the revamping of product launch schedules.
