Mazda unveils its most fuel-efficient gasoline car ever

Mazda has revealed that the latest version of its compact “Demio” wagon will get up to 30 kilometers per liter of gasoline, putting it on par with hybrid vehicles for fuel efficiency and making it the most fuel-efficient gasoline-engine car the company has ever sold. The new Demio is scheduled to go on sale in the first half of 2011. On the price of the new Demio, Mazda Motor Corp. President Takashi Yamanouchi said he would “like to make it easily accessible.” The car will be priced cheaper than Honda’s hybrid “Fit” which went on sale this month for ยฅ1.59 million (US$19,590).
