Mercedes-Benz expands car dealership in Vietnam

Mercedes-Benz Vietnam and its partners are determined to open more dealerships and launch new car models despite the persistent economic woes and the sluggish auto market. One of its authorized dealers, Vietnam Star, recently opened the new Autohaus, located in Ho Chi Minh Cityโ€™s District 7, which offers the entire range of Mercedes-Benzโ€™s world class products and services. The new dealership required an investment of US$15 million. “Vietnam is a fast growing country and we are confident in its economic development. We see great potential in the development of the luxury segment in the short to mid-term. More people want to own premium, safe, and fascinating cars of Mercedes-Benz, as well as have their cars serviced at Mercedes-Benz full sales and after-sales outlet available nationwide. We are committed to a long-term investment in Vietnam,” said Datuk Edward Lee, managing director of Hap Seng Consolidated Berhad, Vietnam Starโ€™s sole shareholder and an investor in the Vietnam Star Mercedes-Benz Autohaus network. Mercedes-Benz Vietnam has experienced unprecedented growth, with nearly 2,900 units sold in 2011. The company is focusing its media blitz on the new generation luxury vehicle M-class. Introduced in Vietnam as ML350 4MATIC, it is more fuel efficient, due mainly to its new engine technology. (April 27, 2012)
