M&M expects to continue lead in UV market

Rajesh Jejurikar, chief executive, Automotive Division, M&M Ltd., said that the new โ€œVeritoโ€ has registered a robust growth of 168% for the period between April and July, with 1,630 units sold. In an email interview with Car India, Jejurikar added that the Logan, which has been in the market for four years, continues to enjoy a very satisfied customer base and the company expects Verito to continue the growth trend. M&M is also planning to introduce a compact version of the Verito. The new model will be less than four meters in length and the company plans to launch it in 2012. โ€œOur core remains UVs and SUVs and we currently enjoy a 60 per cent-plus market share. We will continue our domination by covering the whole range of UVs from Rs 6 lakh (US$12,270) to Rs 20 lakh (US$40,896), be it the Bolero, Xylo, Scorpio, our new global SUV, and Ssangyong products. Besides, all our three UVs, viz Bolero, Scorpio and Xylo, appeal to different customers and hence we have a portfolio of strategies for all products with differentiated positioning,โ€ Jejurikar added.
