OGRA orders physical inspection

Pakistan’s Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) tasked three major oil marketing companies (OMCs) – Pakistan State Oil, Shell and Chevron – to physically inspect fuel supply at different depots after the alleged involvement of certain OMCs, backed by refineries, in misdeclaring the sale of petroleum products, according to the Business Recorder. The authorities took the decision to conduct physical monitoring of fuel supply by refinery-backed OMCs after figures presented revealed that sale by these OMCs did not match the average sale of the entire industry at different outlets. According to sources, OGRA directed the refinery-backed OMCs to report their sales to PSO, Shell and Chevron at the Tarujabba outlet for physical inspection. Sources said OGRA was gradually extending the net of physical inspection of fuel supply to all outlets. (July 8, 2010)
