Perodua to tap consumers who want fuel efficient cars

The introduction of real world fuel prices recently has seen Malaysians scrambling to find alternative fuels. According to Perodua Managing Director Datuk Syed Hafiz Syed Abu Bakar, Perodua’s range of cars fit nicely into the market’s needs. “Our Viva 1.0L manual, Kancil 660 and 850 all give an average of 17 to 18 km per liter,” he said during an interview at his office in Rawang. Another reason why Hafiz is confident that Perodua will not be affected is that 70% of its buyers are either first time or additional car buyers. “The rest are replacement car buyers, though we might be looking at an increase of this since they might want a more fuel efficient car,” he said.
