Petronas eyes refinery expansion

Malaysia is considering the expansion of its joint-venture refinery in Melaka, Petroliam Nasional Bhd (Petronas) Chairman Hassan Marican said. “We are looking at the possibility of expanding the present capacity but it is still under study between ourselves and ConocoPhillips,” Marican said. There are two refineries in Malacca, on Malaysia’s west coast. One is a 100,000-barrel-per-day plant owned solely by Petronas and the other, Melaka-2, which is a JV with ConocoPhillips.
