Philippine oil industry needs 400 million liters of ethanol

Philippine oil companies will need at least 400 million liters of ethanol to comply with the 10% (E10) blend set for implementation at the gas pumps starting February 2011.That was the estimate given by the Oil Industry Management Bureau of the Department of Energy (DoE), basing it on the fact that the industryโ€™s requirement for E5 was already about 200 million liters today. Energy Assistant Secretary Mario Marasigan said he is hopeful that domestic supply will increase before the implementation of the E10 mandate. (February 3, 2010)
