Sinochem refinery gets green light

The Chinese government has given the green light to a Sinochem Corp. project which plans to build a 12 million metric ton per year (mtpy) oil refinery in Quanzhou, a coastal city in southeast Fujian province. The refinery, including a 12 million mtpy distillation unit, a 1.4 million mtpy coking unit and a 2.4 million mtpy catalytic cracking unit, will start construction in June of this year, for start-up in 2012. The Quanzhou refinery will use crude oil imported from Saudi Arabia and Kuwait, the company said. (March 8, 2009)
